I am so excited to finally be able to tell you all about this! We have been working for a few weeks on hosting an on-campus event, and now that we have settled all of the details, I am pleased to announce three new projects we will be undertaking this semester.
◊ This Thursday, we are pleased to announce our first on-campus event of the semester! We will be hosting a Poetry Workshop every Thursday night at 8:45pm inside Café Lavie. It will be run by our editor, Grace Ashworth, as well as Stephanie Hardy from the Café. The workshops will be free for anyone to attend, and it is an open space for creativity. There you can write poems, ask your peers for their reviews, or simply just buy a coffee and pretend you are sitting on the French Riviera surrounded by the aesthetic of creative poets and gourmet beverages.
◊ On the last Thursday of every month, we will have an Open Mic night, where anyone is free to read their poetry aloud to those gathered. It is a very low-stakes situation, and an excellent way to gain comfort in presenting your works to other people. After each performance, the audience will snap like an old beatnik group, or perhaps cheer and scream. Whichever is more appropriate for the piece.
◊ Our last announcement has to do with the magazine itself. For the first time since it’s creation, we have decided to release a fall edition of Montage! The deadline for submissions will be the first Wednesday of October, on the 2nd. We expect it to be a smaller scaled magazine, but no less important. All submissions received in the fall semester will be reviewed for publication in the fall magazine. We are still planning to have a spring magazine, though, so don’t worry if the deadline slips right past you.
Thank you so much for all your support thus far! We can’t wait to see you at our new events and receive all your wonderful submissions!
